It's a Name Changer
What an honor it was to be back at Covenant City Church on November 29th. As always, it was like being with family. I felt as though God had given me a specific word for this particular church, in this season. The title the message was, "It's a Name Changer".
I took my text that Sunday morning from the story of Jacob located in the book of Genesis. Specifically, I spoke about the time when Jacob wrestled with God. The results of this encounter with the change in name. The idea is that when we encounter God, something about our character should change in such a way that we are known differently. We walk in a different manner. We operate under a different authority. It is out of this place of unrest and a determination to struggle with God that we find our "name change".
Though the physical audience was small in size, I believe the heavenly audience was large that Sunday. Many people who joined online said that the word was for them. The pastors of the church received the word for the season they are in as a congregation. More importantly, others who have heard the word have been encouraged to realize that their struggles can result in a blessing. That blessing can result in something that changes the very essence of who they are in Christ. Sometimes when we wrestle with God the result is a complete "Name Changer".
