All I can say is, "wow". What an amazing time we had with Prison Fellowship on November 16th. We were hosted by Skyway Church in their facility. This was the first ever attempt at conducting a virtual service with inmates.
Nathan Hale, from Prison Fellowship, was truly gifted at cordinating one of the most power packed couple of hours. A few hours that would impact the lives of those presenting the message of the good news, and the lives of those in prison. Nearly 20 people gathered into a room (just a little larger than a standard office) in Goodyear, AZ to bring praise and worship, testimonies and the Yielded message to more than 30 prisoners who were in southern AZ.
I must be honest, when we were asked to do this event I was not at all comfortable with the idea. I had thoughts of how the dynamics would work with the service going on in one room, and the inmates being hundreds of miles away watching a screen. Well, all the doubt shifted the moment worship began. The inmates were raising their hands and joining in the worship. Their faces and responses to the testimonies gave clear indication the stories were being received and lives were being touched. At the end of the service, several inmates nelt down to Yield their lives to God. I can honestly say that the power of God was so strong, it was as though we were all in the same room.
Several inmates have already responded, through the chaplain, that they were so changed and inspired by the fact that we would find a way to get to them. All I can say is, "Wow". The gospel is still spreading faster than Covid.
